WiLSWorld Shorts: Open Access / OER on Friday, June 16th at 1:00 pm
WiLS is excited to announce the next installment of WiLSWorld Shorts, quarterly, free webinars to continue the learning that happens at WiLSWorld all year long! These webinars are designed to do all the same things as WiLSWorld – connect our member community around important issues, foster the exchange of ideas, and help members form professional connections and collaborations to get done what they need to get done.
Here’s a preview: Students often pay more than $200 on individual textbooks, and it is well documented that the cost of higher education is a barrier to students completing their education. Open Educational Resources and Open Access Textbooks have emerged as feasible solutions to the rising textbook costs, but the major players in the OER movement have largely been resource-rich universities. Can a small, liberal arts university with limited resources participate in the OER movement? In this webinar Annie Baumann (Viterbo University) will discuss her library’s involvement in promoting OER adoption on her campus and helping faculty select open replacements for traditional textbooks.
Register to attend this free webinar, and we hope to see you there!
