After an extensive search process with many excellent candidates, we are excited to share the news that Kim Kiesewetter will be joining the WiLS team at the end of the month as our new data analyst.
Kim brings to WiLS a deep understanding of data, research, and collaborative work, not to mention she is a trained social scientist with two master’s degrees in applied sociology and anthropology. Kim is also a skilled teacher and experienced presenter, teaching courses in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Sandhills Community College in her home state of North Carolina (we really are multi-state now, with team members in Wisconsin, Washington, Iowa, and now the Tar Heel State). She also holds a certificate in creative storytelling. And, we know that sometimes to get the most out of your data, you need some skilled storytelling.
For the past two years, Kim has been an independent consultant, providing research and data expertise on a variety of projects, many with the public, non-profit sector. She has also worked as the lead or sole, external evaluator on a variety of large, federal grants. From analyzing the childcare needs of college students through surveys and facilitated conversations to working as a researcher and project manager on multiple National Science Foundation-funded grants, Kim brings skills and experiences that we know will benefit our members and the Wisconsin library community.
Kim will begin her work with WILS by looking at data across the state to learn more about service and other trends, including community demographics, honing our strategic planning community survey to include more library non-users, and learning from the data collected through the consortia we manage. Using her deep knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data and strong visualization skills, Kim will tell our members’ stories in compelling ways.
