July 25, 2024 WiLS staff
This webinar was held on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. You can watch the recording on the WiLS YouTube channel.

Join us on Tuesday, August 6th at 10:00 am CT for an enlightening webinar led by Stephanie Hallock, a distinguished Political Science professor at Hartford College, designed specifically for librarians and teachers dedicated to enhancing media literacy education this school year. This session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to confidently teach your students to think critically about the news during the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election. The key topics include:

  • The Difference Between Bias & Fake News: Understand the distinction between media bias and fake news and their implications.
  • Identifying and Addressing News Blind spots: Learn why it’s essential to identify your news blind spots and strategies to address them effectively.
  • Media Bias and Election Outcomes: Explore the potential impact of media bias on election results and the broader implications for democracy.

Walk away with practical activities, lesson plans, and handouts that you can implement immediately in your classrooms. Additionally, you’ll gain access to Ground News’ free tools and features, enhancing your ability to guide your students through the complex media landscape. This webinar is an invaluable opportunity to deepen your understanding of media literacy and effectively teach it during this crucial election season.
